Choose a replacement mesh drum head by the head size and hoop fit required by your drum or pad, not by the module brand or the outside diameter of the pad housing. What size mesh head do I need?
Start with the marking on the existing head or the replacement-head specification for your exact pad model. A product called a 12-inch pad does not, by itself, establish every dimension of the head and hoop it accepts. Acoustic shells, electronic-pad housings and the visible playing area are different things to measure.
- Record the drum or pad brand and full model name, plus any size printed on the old head.
- Check the manufacturer's replacement-head size and whether it uses a standard removable drumhead and tension hoop.
- If the size is unclear, remove the head only as permitted by the pad's instructions. Record the shell or head-seat diameter across the centre, without including the outer rim, lugs or pad housing. Take measurements in two directions.
- Photograph the old head, hoop and head seat. Measurements help identify the part, but should not be treated as a guaranteed nominal size conversion.
- Confirm hoop, collar and seating clearance before ordering. Do not stretch or force a head to make an uncertain fit work.

Replacement head or acoustic conversion?
Replacing a worn electronic-pad head
Keep the pad model, existing trigger and approved installation procedure in view. A new head replaces the playing surface; it does not add head/rim zones or repair a faulty sensor automatically. Photograph the existing assembly before removal and avoid disturbing trigger wiring.
Converting an acoustic shell
A plain mesh head provides a low-volume playing surface. Electronic triggering also needs a suitable sensor and module connection. Fitting and checking the new head
Follow the drum or pad manufacturer's replacement procedure. Seat the head and hoop evenly, then tension gradually using an alternating pattern. Use the recommended tension where provided; there is no single tension value established here for every pad. Reconnect and test soft and firm strokes and any supported rim response. Check fit and tension before making large module-setting changes.
